Pixy's Pastries, a Lansing, MI company, is a made-to-order bakery and confection business that strives to give its customers exactly what they want – high quality products made from fresh ingredients to the customer’s specifications for a reasonable price.
Pixy’s Pastries will serve individuals, organizations and retail businesses by producing made-to-order pastries and other portable food products for consumption or re-sale. Pixy's Pastries will produce made-to-order pastries and confections such as cookies, cakes, muffins, cheesecakes and candies, as well as unique tortilla wraps, sandwiches, soups, spice mixes, sauces, and other portable menu items.
Pixy's Pastries will offer consulting services and training for restaurants wishing to improve/enhance their menus, food presentation and service, as well as to develop special-event marketing through custom-designed products.
Pixy's Pastries works with existing restaurants and other retail establishments in all aspects of new product development and menu enhancements including formulation of recipes, food presentation, packaging, staff development and training as well as design/implementation of unique marketing concepts.
Pixy’s Pastries will continually strive to be a market leader for the development, production and marketing of unique holiday, seasonal, and event driven food products. This will include the development and implementation of special marketing opportunities around holidays and special events such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Fourth of July, Cinco de Mayo and college sports events, etc.
Melissa Rios is the owner and president of Pixy’s Pastries. She has extensive experience in food service --from quick service restaurants to fine dining establishments such as Dusty’s and the Lansing Country Club including food preparation, service, management and training. Melissa also has extensive retail and management experience through her work at S&K Menswear and Hobby Lobby. She has also developed and operated a successful floral business. Over many years, primarily baking for family and friends, Melissa has developed a unique approach and attitude about made-to-order baking that will be the heart of Pixy’s Pastries approach to food development and preparation.
Her husband and partner Santiago Rios is a practicing attorney who started his career at McDonald’s Corporation where he served as a Regional Vice President with bottom-line responsibility for the development and operation of over 500 McDonald’s restaurants in Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan. He has also developed and operated several gourmet coffee shop and bakery operations. He will assist Melissa in the overall management and marketing of Pixy’s Pastries, and will help in the kitchen as needed.
